Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – After luxury fashion brand Chanel announced the passing of its German Creative Director since 1983, Karl Lagerfeld, it was met with celebrities of both Hollywood and the fashion industry mourning on social media of the Kaiser’s personality and legacy.

Among them was Bella Hadid who took to Instagram to share of Lagerfeld’s “wit, humor, love and passion for fashion will live on forever. Thank you for the inspiration that you gave to this world and for all of the hearts that you touched in the process.”

Kim Kardashian reacted, “We lost a true legend!!!”; Elton John posted a picture captioning how the designer was a “wonderful and lethal company,”; fellow designer Donatella Versace shared that Lagerfeld inspired her and her late brother Gianni and that they were always learning from him; Victoria Beckham shared how Lagerfeld was always kind and generous to her both personally and professionally.

But another person had a different reaction, English actress Jameela Jamil of ‘The Good Place’. The actress took to Twitter, reposting an article about halting to mourn oppressors such as Lagerfeld. She captioned the repost that she was glad somebody said it and then called Lagerfeld a “ruthless, fat-phobic misoginist” and that he was “talented for sure, but not the best person.”

Model and close friend of Lagerfeld Cara Delevigne saw the tweets and replied her dismay of such tweet saying that Jamil was disrespectful and that Jamil should keep her comments to herself as she didn’t know Lagerfeld personally.

Chanel has announced Lagerfeld’s successor as Virginie Viard.
