New York, NY, United States (4E) – Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour recently appeared on a Vogue video content uploaded on YouTube to answer questions from random people in New York City. The editrix shared her lengthy comment about Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle.

Wintour is not unfamiliar to questions like these since she’s been interviewed so many times throughout her career and even appeared on Vogue’s 73 Questions, also uploaded on YouTube, where she can be seen around the Condé Nast office walking around answering questions.

The fashion royalty commented on the British royalty’s wedding gown when she married Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex on May 19, 2018. The wedding caused quite a stir all around the world as the first interracial royal wedding on television, Markle being African American.

Markle’s gown was designed by Clare Waight Keller, fashion designer of the house built by Hubert de Givenchy, couturier of the likes of Audrey Hepburn. The Duchess of Sussex’s gown was clean cut and conservative look, albeit ill-fitting, and keeps getting compared to her royal sister in law, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge. The Duchess wore a design by Sarah Burton, designer of Alexander McQueen.

Wintour commented on what the statement the dress made to the world:an English designer who works for a French fashion house designed the wedding gown for an American commoner marrying a British prince. Wintour added that the dress was “sophisticated”, “chic”, and”grown up”. For the Vogue editor, the message was encapsulated as “Yes I’m from somewhere else but I belong.”

She didn’t stop there. She lauded the Duchess of Sussex for walking down the aisle by herself— a move that screamed independence, called her mother Doria Ragland an inspiration to women around the world and that she finds it funny how the royal staff find it odd that the Duchess wakes up as early as 5 AM to start her day.

In the video, Wintour has called The Duchess of Sussex “amazing” and “fantastic”.
