Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro threatened to cancel the license of largest TV network in Brazil Globo, over a controversial report in which the network connected Bolsonaro with a former police officer who was accused of killing Rio de Janeiro councilwoman Marielle Franco last year.
During a live video on his social media account recorded in Riyadh hotel during an official visit to Saudi Arabia, the Brazilian President accused Globo of performing âvillainous journalismâ and said he would cancel its license âif they keep up with this rotten journalism and despicable lies.â
In the video, Bolsonaro accused the TV network and Rio Governor Wilson Witzel of conspiring to attack him and his family by involving him in a crime that different investigations proved he had nothing to do with. He said he was surprised since Witzel was always one of his allies.
“We’ll talk in 2022. You’d better hope I’m dead by then, because the renewal process won’t be persecution, but … there won’t be any workarounds for you or anyone else,” Bolsonaro warned in his live video from Riyadh.
