Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Disney’s ‘Captain Marvel’ debuted with $455 million globally shutting down the doubters and the haters (most especially comic book nerds) about the performance of the movie in the box office.

It now ranks as the sixth biggest start of a movie in the entire history of movie making and the second biggest debut of a superhero movie worldwide according to Variety. Forbes also reported that as of this writing the movie juggernaut has earned $154 million in the United States of America alone, $89 million in China and $456 million globally over its first few days. And counting…

‘Captain Marvel’ Stars Brie Larson as the title character, although she is never called that throughout the film. Larson won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in ‘Room’ with young actor Jacob Tremblay.

Larson plays Carol Danvers, a pilot who gets infused with superpowers through an explosion and is adopted by an army of “noble warrior heroes” called the ‘Kree’ after she loses her memory. The movie focuses on her search for her identity similar to character arcs of yore such as Mulholland Drive, Memento and Robocop.

‘Captain Marvel’ is the introduction of the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after she was teased in the end credits scene of last year’s box office hit, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’. She will be joining the like of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and Black Widow to name a few on the upcoming ‘Avengers: Endgame’ movie which will be released on April 24 this year.
