Chris Brown Detained In Paris, France On Allegations of Rape

France (4E) – Chris Brown has been detained in Paris, France by local police on allegations of rape, multiple sources report.
The singer is being accused of assaulting a 24-year-old on January 15-16. The woman met Brown at the club Le Crystal, after which she was taken to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel where she claims to have been raped by the Brown.
Brown has been detained since Monday on possible charges of aggravated rape and drug use. He remained in custody until Tuesday. Brown was arrested by two other men, which have been identified by French media as the singer’s bodyguard and friend.
Investigators have been given two days to determine whether to release Brown or to file preliminary charges against him.
In France, the crime of aggravated rape carries a punishment of 20 years of imprisonment upon conviction.
Brown nor his label, RCA Records, has yet to comment on the matter.
The 29-year-old singer has previously been accused of violent behavior towards women. In 2009, he was convicted of assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna. He pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to five years of probation and 1,400 hours of community service.
In 2017, Karrueche Tran, his girlfriend at the time, was granted a permanent restraining order against the singer after claiming that he punched her and pushed her down the stairs.
He was also involved in an altercation with Drake and his entourage in 2012 in a nightclub in New York.
