Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Chris Hemsworth is confirmed to portray Hulk Hogan in the upcoming biopic for the WWE star.

The Hogan movie project is still in the final round of discussions with Netflix. It will be produced by Academy Award-winning producer Michael Sugar, who will produce the film under Netflix-based production house Sugar23, and Phillips and Bradley Cooper, who will produce via Joint Effort. Hemsworth and Eric Bischoff are also on board as producers, The Hollywood Reporter writes.

Todd Phillips has been tapped to direct the Hulk Hogan biopic, while Scott Silver will helm the script together with John Pollono. Silver’s credits include ‘8 Mile’ and ‘The Fighter’, and he is set to write DC Comics’ ‘The Joker’ movie.

The Hulk will serve as a consultant for the film and an executive producer.

According to The Guardian, the movie will center on the early years of Hogan’s wrestling career. It will primarily focus on his origin story and the creation of Hulkmania. It will not include later controversies outside his bouts in the WWE, such as the lawsuit he filed against Gawker for publishing portions of a sex tape he had with Heather Clem.

Hogan, born as Terry Gene Bollea, began his wrestling career in Florida in the 1970s. When he made his foray into the WWE (then known as the WWF), he was known for his rivalry with Andre the Giant. He later became the face of the WWF when Vince McMahon took over. By the 1980s, he became one of the decade’s most recognizable key personalities, frequently appearing on talk shows and magazine covers.

Meanwhile, Hemsworth will appear in the summer’s most anticipated film ‘Avengers: Endgage’.
