Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Disney will be implementing a strict ban on smoking or vaping inside the company’s theme parks across the United States.

Starting May 1, a strict policy change will be imposed at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and other Disney theme parks throughout the country. According to the official Disney Parks blog, all theme parks will soon be a smoke-free place as smokers are no longer allowed to smoke cigarettes or vape.

The memo states that all the designated smoking areas that are currently within the theme parks will be removed. Smokers and vapers, however, can still smoke at designated areas outside the park entrances and at Disney resort hotels.

“As we expand our offerings, we will continue to take steps to enhance the guest experience and make it more enjoyable for everyone who visits,” Disney said in a statement on Thursday.

Aside from the smoking ban, Disney also changed its guidelines on strollers and other items permitted into the park. Strollers wider than 31 inches or longer than 52 inches will no longer be allowed entry into the park. Stroller wagons have also been prohibited.

The new rules were announced ahead of the opening of the new Star Wars-themed lands in California on May 31 and on August 29 in Florida, CNBC reported. In preparation for the opening of Galaxy’s Edge, the company is removing the smoking areas and restricting the type of strollers to reduce congestion within the park as huge crowds are expected to visit.
