New York, NY, United States (4E) – Harvey Weinstein has formed a new legal time to represent him after his former lawyer, Jose Baez, official withdrew from his case.

On Thursday, Baez formally exited Weinstein’s case after a hearing wherein New York State Supreme Court Justice James Burke approve the appointment of Donna Rotunno and Damon Cheronis as Weinstein’s new lawyers, NBC News reported. This is the third team to handle the movie producer’s rape case.

Baez had a private conference with Judge Burke to explain why he wanted to be removed from the case. In a letter addressed to the court, Baaez claimed that Weinstein had “engaged in behavior that makes this representation unreasonably difficult to carry out effectively and has insisted upon taking actions with which I have fundamental disagreements,” hence his decision to withdraw from the case, Vanity Fair reported.

In a news conference that followed the hearing, Rotunno told reporters that she believes Weinstein is being “railroaded” and that “movements allow emotion to take over and they’re devoid of fact and evidence.”

Gloria Allred, who represents two of Weinstein’s accusers, also gave a press conference in which she focused on Rotunno’s stance on the #MeToo movement. In June, the lawyer told the Wall Street Journal that she never “subscribed” to the said movement and believes that “women are responsible for the choices that they make.”

Weinstein has been charged with five counts of sexual assault, to which he pleaded not guilty. His trial is set to begin on September 9.
