Matt Lauer and Annette Roque File For Divorce, End 20-Year Marriage

Written by on July 16, 2019

Matt Lauer and Annette Roque are ending their 20-year marriage after the latter filed for divorce in a New York court on Tuesday.

Prior to the filing, the couple has been separated for a year and half shortly after Lauer was fired from NBC due to sexual harassment allegations.

“The case, which is an uncontested matrimonial, was filed on July 9th in State Supreme Court in Suffolk County, New York and is awaiting judicial review of the agreement,” a court spokesperson told E! News in a statement. “Upon a judge’s signature, it will be sent to the court clerk’s office to be entered. The process could take up to a few months.”

Lauer has apologized for his actions although claimed that some of the accusations made against him were “untrue or mischaracterized.”

In June, Page Six reported that Lauer and Roque had reached a divorce settlement and that they will both have shared custody over their three children: Jack, Thijs, and Romy. It was also reported that Roque will receive up to $20 million in assets, including their Hamptons horse farm. No mention was made regarding their family home in the Hamptons, the Strongheart Manor. The mansion was brought by Lauer from actor Richard Gere in 2016 for $36.5 million.

It was also said that Lauer will most likely move to his own place once the divorce is finalized.
