Josephine County, Oregon, United States (4E) – Meghan Markle’s half-brother, Thomas Markle, Jr., was arrested on Friday in Josephine County, Oregon on a drunk-driving charge.

Markle was pulled over by the Oregon State Police at 1:33 a.m. and was taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol. Cops performed a field sobriety test on the 52-year-old and reported that his impairment was apparent. Markle’s breath test also showed a 0.11 percent blood-alcohol content, TMZ reported.

Authorities also confirmed his car, a Chevrolet Silverado, was impounded.

The Duchess of Sussex’s estranged brother had previous run-ins with the law. On January 2017, he was arrested for domestic violence after he held his girlfriend, Darlene Blount, at gunpoint during a fight. Reports said Markle was drunk at the time of the incident. Blount dropped the case a month after pressing charges and the two are now engaged.

Meghan and Thomas’ father commented that his son has a “serious problem” and “needs help.” Thomas Sr., however, clarified, that his son’s drinking is not at all related to Meghan.

Sources close to Meghan previously revealed that she never had any relationship with her half-siblings. A source told PEOPLE, that Thomas Jr. and Samantha Markle were already out of the house by the time Meghan was born.

In April last year, Thomas Jr. wrote a letter discouraging Prince Harry from marrying Meghan, saying it would be “the biggest mistake in royal wedding history.” He also opened up about how he and his father did not receive an invitation to Meghan and Harry’s wedding in May.

Despite their issues, Thomas Jr. intends on inviting the royal couple to his wedding in March. He claims that his wedding will “bring the family closer” and that Meghan and Harry could spend more time with their father.
