Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – German fashion designer Philipp Plein, famous for getting the likes of Parish Hilton and ‘hot felon’ Jeremy Meeks to walk on his fashion shows, has been duped by an alleged manager of Kanye West— the latter allegedly promising to perform at his Autumn/Winter show.

Apparently, an alleged representative for the rapper approached the designer to perform at his New York Fashion Week show, costing roughly a one million dollars, to which the designer’s team agreed to, looking to impress younger fans and to trend on social media giving West’s die hard fandom and cultural impact, only to fall for a scam. Page Six reports that the company fell for the scam and wired the money transfer to the alleged representative which the latter emptied immediately.

The scam was revealed through the rapper’s reality show wife akin Kardashian when a fan tweeted to her confirming West’s involvement in the show. Kardashian later denied the inquiry saying that it was just but a mere rumor.

One of West’s close friends, Malik Yusef, issued a statement on Instagram regarding the scam. He said that he was appointed by West to manage Donda Social, a non-profit organization looking to design t-shirts to spread positivity in the world. Through this commission he was tasked to partner with Patagonia, Fashion Nova and Philipp Plein to co-design the shirts in exchange for $750,000 donation.

However, Plein’s donation was returned due to West backing out of the project due to ‘unknown reasons’. Yusef has denied any fraudulent activity with the alleged scam and that he “only presented himself as a creative and financial resource to aid and assist Kanye and I with Donda Social.”

Philipp Plein sent out another batch of invitations to the fashion show. This time without a performance from Kanye West.
