Rami Malek Finally Speaks Out About Bryan Singer

Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ actor Rami Malek, who plays the frontman of the band ‘Queen’ Freddie Mercurie, has finally spoken out against his former director Bryan Singer after months of keeping mum about the issue.

Singer has been hit with new allegations of sexual misconduct towards underage boys. The new allegations came after his success in the Golden Globe Awards where his film, Bohemian Rhapsody, won Best Picture — Drama. The Atlantic reported that the director had sexual encounters with four men when they were still teenagers in the late 1990’s.

Only two weeks before the biopic wrapped, Singer was fired by 20th Century Fox, although not for sexual harassment, but for repeated absences (he claims to have cared for a sick relative) and clashes on set with his leading star Malek.

Malek sat down with The Hollywood Reporter at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and offered his sympathy to the people who have suffered sexual harassment After being asked about the allegations about Singer.

Malek says that during filming of the biopic his experience with Singer was not pleasant but refused to go into details as to what transpired. He has also repeatedly said in past interviews that he was not aware of the sexual abuse allegations against the director prior to working with him.

Despite the gaffe, the film earned rave reviews from critics and was a big contender in the 2018 box office.Vanity Fair reports that Singer earned at least $40 million and is credited as the sole director of the film. It also earned Malek numerous awards for Best Actor for his work in the film.
