Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – It’s no question that Robert Downey Jr. is the face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and arguably one of the highest-paid in the entire superhero franchise, and a recent report suggests that he may rake in even more for ‘Avengers: Endgame’ because of a unique financial arrangement he has with Marvel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Downey had negotiated a unique financial agreement with Marvel Studio chief Kevin Feige, which resulted in massive paychecks for the actor all throughout his decade-long run as Iron Man.

The actor receives backend payments for the ‘Avengers’ films, which means he gets a portion of a film’s box office earnings. For instance, with 2018’s ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, Downey most likely went home with $75 million considering that the film grossed over $2 billion worldwide. Considering that ‘Endgame’ already crossed the 1 billion mark on its first week, it’s possible the actor’s final paycheck will be massive.

For other actors, their bonuses will depend on the film’s performance. Before, stars receive bonuses once a movie enters the $500 million global mark. However, the threshold is said to have increased to $700 million and later to $1.5 million.

Given how he is able to negotiate how much he charges for his appearances in Marvel movies alone (Downey took home $5 million for three days of shoot for ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’), is easily on of the most bankable actors in the world. In 2018, Forbes named him the third highest-paid actor in the world, besting his fellow Marvel actors Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans by miles. His earnings for 2018 was said to be double what he raked in for 2017.
