Washington, DC, United States (4E) – Some Home Depot shoppers are calling for a boycott of the store due to one of the founder’s support of President Donald Trump.

Bernie Marcus said he appreciates the president’s approach to China and Iran even if Trump “sucks” at communication, according to a recent newspaper interview Marcus had with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Some people took to Twitter to express their anger at the company.

“Well, @HomeDepot won’t be getting any of my home renovation dollars in the future. All of our appliances are getting into replacement age and kitchen and bathroom renos are in the plans” read one tweet.

Others are upset at Trump’s stance on immigration and wondered how a major figure in the company could support him.

“@HomeDepot makes its billions from the hard working immigrants of this country, in their stores and as carpenters and contractors. Yet their founder wants to support a racist who wants to conduct mass deportation and rip families apart. I can’t support that. #BoycottHomeDepot,” read another tweet.

Marcus, 90, is no longer chairman of Home Depot’s board, but credits his time with the company for much of his fortune, said to be $5.9 billion according to Forbes.

Home Depot officials tried to distance themselves from Marcus’ support of the president.

“Bernie retired from The Home Depot more than 15 years ago and isn’t speaking on behalf of the company. In fact, as a standard practice, the company does not endorse Presidential candidates,” the company said in a statement.
