Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’ will not only get a third season this year but also a prequel tie-in novel for fans to deeply understand the origins of the show. Stranger Things is one of the most popular and marketable shows in the streaming service’s array of productions.

The novel will focus on the origin story of Chief Jim Hopper, played by David Harbour. Chief Hopper is the Chief of Police in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana and is a major character in the first and second season of the show. Amidst his troubled past, he plays a carefree existence in the low crime rate town. Along with the four young characters, he too fights the monsters that haunt and slowly invade their town from the Upside Down world.

Netflix announced that the novel surmises on the details of Chief Hopper’s past life and will be titled, ‘Stranger Things: Darkness on the Edge of Town’.

The synopsis teased by Netflix reveals that when his adopted daughter Jane Hopper, popularly known as Eleven and played by Millie Bobby Brown, gets curious about unanswered questions, Hopper will be forced to look back from his past. According to the book’s author Adam Christopher, the novel will follow Hopper during his time as a homicide detective at New York City in 1977.

This is not the first time-in book of the show though as ‘Stranger Things: Suspicious Minds’ was released on February 5 this year.

‘Stranger Things: Darkness on the Edge of Town’ will be available in bookstores on the 4th of June before the premiere of the third season on July 3.
