Swedish Prison Authority Refutes Claims Rapper A$AP Rocky Is Being Held in ‘Inhumane Conditions’

Sweden (4E) – A prison official has defended the condition of the facilities in the Kronoberg prison in Sweden after it was reported that rapper A$AP Rocky is being held in “inhumane” conditions.

The rapper, whose real name is Rakim Meyers, is allegedly sleeping on a yoga mat without blankets and is being placed in a cell next to an inmate who is suffering from mental health issues who bangs his head on the wall and throws feces at any direction.

According to TMZ, the rapper only ate an apple a day during the first five days of his incarceration because food in the said facility is inedible and the water is not safe to drink.

Fredrik Wallin, the governor at the said prison facility, refuted the said claims. Wallin said that while he cannot disclose information about individual prisoners, he said that the prisoners are well taken cared of in the facility and that the conditions there are good. He described their cells as having a desk and a TV. Unlike the initial report, prisoners sleep on a proper bed with a mattress and not on yoga mats, BBC reported.

He added that the prison was renovated a few years ago and all the cells have been reconstructed.

“I have no knowledge on any current diseases in the remand prison,” Wallin told Radio 1 Newsbeat.

The prison authority also said that all the detainees at the Swedish remand prison receive meals three times a day and that a professional cleaning company “immediately sanitizes” and cleans the area in case of food spillages and other accidents.

A$AP Rocky is being held in prison after being involved in a street brawl. He is currently awaiting the result of the prosecutor’s investigation into the matter. He was in Stockholm to perform at a music festival but was arrested afterwards.
