Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Earlier this week, television personality Wendy Williams revealed she’s been staying in a sober-living house as she continues to overcome her struggles with cocaine abuse. A source also said that her husband, Kevin Hunter, may have been the one to encourage the move.
Williams made the revelation on Tuesday’s episode of ‘The Wendy Williams Show’. She tearfully told the audience that she’s been staying at a halfway house for quite some time.
While the daytime show host shared that she has a 24-hour sober coach, she did not specify the details about the treatment she getting for her cocaine addiction, The Washington Post reports. However, she revealed that part of her wellness routine involves two hours of Pilates after taping her talk show as well as going around meetings in the Tri-state area.
“And I see my brothers and sisters caught up in their addiction and looking for help,” Williams spoke about her peers at the sober house, adding that they don’t know nor care about that the fact that she’s a celebrity. “It’s the brothers and sisters caught up in the struggle and it’s been really interesting, this ride.”
Williams said that only her husband and their son are aware about her stay at the sober house and the treatment she’s receiving. Not even her own parents knew and her co-workers didn’t suspect anything because she always looked “so glamorous” on the show.
A source told Page Six that it was her husband who told her to go to a sober facility to battle her drinking and drug problems.
Meanwhile, Williams has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host. She is the only solo show host to be nominated, and is up against the hosts of ‘The Real’, ‘The View’, ‘The Talk’, ‘Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest’.
